Hip Reusable Storage Containers - Made From Ocean Plastic
UsageMade From Ocean Plastics
Raw MaterialsMade from Ocean Plastics. Square storage containers with a side handle. Specifically designed for multi-use, this clear-lidded container can be used in the fridge, freezer and microwave – so they work equally well for storing, heating and serving food. Plastic is durable and provides protection from contaminants and the elements. It reduces food waste by preserving food and increasing its shelf life. In other words, the overall environmental impact of plastic is lower than that of alternative materials, like bulky cardboard and weighty metal. HIP has partnered with OCEANWORKS® the largest global marketplace for sustainable materials, to source discarded ocean-bound plastics from developing communities with no existing recycling infrastructure. More than 5 trillion pieces of plastic currently litter the oceans, 150 million tonnes - Up to 8 million tonnes of plastic enter our oceans every year. Plastic production and consumption are predicted to double over the next 10 years. By 2050, plastic in the ocean will outweigh fish. Ocean bound plastic is material collected from communities with no formal waste management within 50 km of the shoreline. Our Ocean Bound Plastic is pre-consumer, industrial plastic, which would otherwise become waste, likely winding up in our oceans. The material is collected and processed in Asia, before being shipped to our factory for final production. Our goal is to help use up as much Ocean Bound Plastic as possible and turn it into products you will use every day.
