INGHAM’S FARMING
We all dream of a sustainable world where we are able to meet our needs without affecting the ability of future generations to meet their own.
At the very heart of sustainability is animal welfare. To us, it means more than nurturing our chickens with good food, clean water, and safe shelter. Animal welfare also means providing them with the freedom to comfortably move, perch, exercise, and mingle with other chickens. We take the health and nutrition of our animals seriously. Like training a professional athlete, every aspect of their diet is meticulously monitored. By treating our chickens with the same compassion and respect we give to people, we’re confident that the food we put on every family’s dining table is safe, healthy, and of the best quality.
To make sure that our standards are best practice, we align our business with organisations whose key focus is on animal welfare. This includes The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), and The Free Range Egg and Poultry Australia.
RSPCA’s standards cover environmental design, the management of the animals’ shelter and resting facilities, the freedom to express themselves, and a diet that maintains full health and vigour. The Free Range Egg and Poultry Australia Ltd Standards go even further to promote a non-stressful environment for our animals. These standards include temperature-controlled facilities and the provision of wholesome foods in line with the State Animal Welfare Code, and transport in accordance with the Land Transport Code.
We also adhere to the National Farm Biosecurity Manual for Poultry Production. This ensures our animals are healthy and disease-free. Our in-house feed mill operations and veterinarian teams oversee the health and welfare of our animals. These teams consult closely with our farming team to continually prioritise our animal’s welfare by ensuring they get the best quality nutritional meals.
