Herbal Essences Sustainability Actions

RENEWABLE ENERGY

In 2016, we began purchasing certified renewable electricity credits, which come from windmills, for our Blois plant. This ensures that more renewable energy is added to the electricity grid, displacing conventional fuels like coal, nuclear or natural gas from the electricity system. Since 2010, our Herbal Essences manufacturing sites around the world have reduced our total absolute energy by about 9% and total absolute gas emissions by more than 15%.

REDUCE MANUFACTURING WASTE

Herbal Essences manufacturing sites are working hard to reduce waste. How? For example, at our Iowa City factory, our scrap bottles are repurposed to make flower pots. 50% of our manufacturing sites are even zero manufacturing waste to landfill.

WATER REDUCTION

We’re making a concerted effort to protect our world’s most precious resource. From 2010 to 2016, our Herbal Essences sites around the world have reduced total absolute water consumption by over 20% and that’s only the beginning.
