Ecosa's Recycling Program

Ecosa's Recycling Program simplifies mattress and bedding disposal, promoting sustainability with an easy-to-use digital platform. Partnering with recycling companies, we collect old mattresses and sheets, redirecting reusable ones to charity and recycling the rest. Available in major Australian cities, with plans for nationwide expansion, our initiative integrates seamlessly into our website, allowing customers to schedule pickups and track their environmental impact. This is one way Ecosa is demonstrating a commitment to accessible sustainability in the retail market.

Ecosa Materials: OceanCycle™ Fabric

We recently made changes to include recycled materials where possible. We’re proud to say that our mattress covers and sofa beds are OceanCycle certified and made from ocean recycled plastic bottles, which helps to reduce plastic pollution in our oceans. They’re also Oeko-Tex 100 Certified, meaning no nasty chemicals were used to create our products. We're committed to making sleep more sustainable and use natural and recycled materials wherever possible. On average, each Ecosa product contains between 200-400 plastic bottles. This adds up to millions of plastic bottles recycled each year. Saved from landfill and our oceans.

Ecosa Materials: Our Foams

Our mattress foams contain no irritants and no harmful chemicals. Organic Latex Foam: The Ecosa Pure Mattress is made from organic latex foam. Natural latex is harvested from rubber trees; however, the trees do not need to be cut down, making the production process sustainable and carbon-neutral. We only use 100% organic latex with no plastics or fillers added, plus it’s Oeko-Tex 100 Certified. Memory Foam: We’re proudly CertiPUR-US certified and aim to keep our levels of assessed substances and emissions well below the approved minimum. Some mattress foams emit high levels of nasty Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) that compromise the air quality in your home, but Ecosa consciously ensures we work with the best quality materials and pass on the health benefits to you and the planet. Unlike most memory foam mattresses, we use 30% bio-oil in our Ecosa Mattress. It’s not perfect, but we’re working on 100% sustainable foams, as we only want to work with the best quality materials and pass on the health benefits to you and the planet.

2023

Ecosa's goal to remove 2 million plastic bottles during 2023

To make our mattress cover, sofa bed and ottoman fabric, we have removed from the ocean over 750,000 plastic bottles (15 tons of plastic). Our goal is to remove 2 million plastic bottles during 2023.

2024

Ecosa's goal to make recycling mattresses and sleep products accessible to all Australians by 2024

So far on our journey we have recycled over 10,000+ mattresses. With the mission to make recycling old products a cultural norm in Australia. We hope to inspire individuals and businesses to always recycle their old products when buying a new one and keep our landfills as empty as can be.
